Without mentioning names while browsing
the kitchen I ran across of a statement that
said 2/3 rds of the post in the kitchen were
about Obama and guns. I looked through the
first 5 pages which have 20 threads each for
a total of 100.

Out of the 100 I found 1 thread that was about
Obama, 1 thread that was directly gun related,
and 3 others that had guns mentioned because
of shootings, along with that there were other
threads about things other than Newfoundland
and Canada.

You take the 5 threads and the others and put
them together they might makeup 10 to 15% of
the postings a long way from the 66% that was
mentioned, with that number 80 to 85% of the
posting would be Canadian related.

I do believe if the DH wanted to take quotes from
various threads and intergate into the magizine
there would be more than enough for
them to do so.

Hi JC, that #/stat caught my eye also, I didn't want to comment on it, I figured it would only lead to another racket...
I am guessing that comment is more of a gripe against the people posting in the thread rater than the content of the thread.
The people on this site deserve a better class of pot stirrer, and I'm gonna give to them...

I thought it was a interesting statement
so i look at the first 5 pages and posted
my finding with a + or- 3% finding and I
did do it to start a argument.

I can remember back a few months ago
when the threads were dominated by
things happening in the states and no one
complained, but let a Obama or a gun
thread popup and they make it out as if
the two dominated the threads in the kitchen.

I also caught that little statistic on the number of posts that mentions Obama and guns. If I had responded to it I would be accused of nit-picking or bullying. I decided to look at it as being equal to someone saying "I told you a million times" or "If I had a nickle for every time" type of remark.

Those two items are in the news daily and could have been mentioned in in postings a lot more times then they actually were.

For anyone who likes to talk about guns talk to the collector who owns this.

For those who don't like guns talk to the guy who owns this.

Be very careful as to who you talk to for those two guy look alike.

And who really cares if two thirds of the threads are about Guns, Obama, George Bush or Stephen Haprer or ................

Tis a public forum and if any specific topic is of interest to the majority of posters, then that will be the focus.

However the poster who stated the two thirds value obviously didn't do a statistical analysis, or even a close guesstimate. Unless of course they based their value on three successive threads, one of Obama, one of guns and one of any other topic. But that would put their credibility in question as the sample is too small. And their credibility may be questionable in any case unless they can provide the basis for the 66.7% stat that was quoted. ;-)

That gun collection Mike, is circulated on the net as being owned by Charles Heston, who for years was president of the NRA. This false statement came out after his death. It is not his and never was. Just makes good reading for those gun haters because of his NRA association.

Even in death the smearing of a good name goes on. Take Jesus for example. Whoops! Gone religious here by mistake.

There! That corrected it.

Great pictures of Heston's collection, I only
have 3 shotguns all target models and 4
pistols that have never been shoot, I think
a gun thread is good.
